Alaska Japanese Speech Contest
The Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage and the Alaska Association of Teachers of Japanese Alaska will hold the 9th annual Alaska Japanese Speech Contest. The contest will be held on March 3rd at the University of Alaska Anchorage's Rasmuson Hall. During the day there will be an opportunity for the public to try origami, calligraphy and Go (the board game of Japan). There will also be a Taiko, Karate and Kendo performances. We look forward to seeing you there. |

Today I reshuffled my Cabinet, and this afternoon I attended the attestation ceremony at the Imperial Palace for the new Cabinet members.
One thing that I would like everyone to understand related to the background of this reshuffle is that we will be inaugurating the Reconstruction Agency at an early date in February. With the inauguration of the Reconstruction Agency, I will be able to appoint a Minister, Vice-minister and Parliamentary Secretaries to be in charge of this issue. Focusing on that point, i wanted to be thoroughly prepared for every possibility with regard to reconstruction. Foreign Minister Gemba held a press conference on Friday January 20th to answer questions about the realignment of US forces in Japan, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, sanctions on Iran and more.
Minister Gemba: Relevant Ministries' officials dispatched from Japan held consultations with their counterparts of Vietnam and Brunei in charge of TPP negotiations towards Japan's partisipation in TPP negotiations. The consultations were held in Vietnam and Brunei on Tuesday, January 17 and Thursday, January 19, respectively. furthermore, the officials collected information on TPP negotiations.
