2022/5/18

On May 12, Mr. Aniya and Ms. Suzuki, a staff member, exchanged opinions online with five interns (Mr. Masahiro Nishikawa, Miss. Yuzuki Kamimura, Miss. Mako Haibara, Ms. Saki Odai and Miss. Haruka Mori) who contributed to Japanese language education immersion classes at Dimond High School, Mears Middle School, and Sand Lake Elementary School in Anchorage for about a year, along with the intern coordinator Mr. Haruki Kamimura (the president of the Japanese Teachers Association/Sand Lake Elementary 6th grade teacher). This exchange of opinions was realized with the advice of the former intern coordinator Ms. Sachiko Kono (the president of Tomodachi Daiko, Inc. / Sand Lake Elementary School 2nd grade teacher). At the beginning, the principal of Sand Lake Elementary School, Mr. Linson Thompson, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Aniya.
Mr. Aniya stated that immersion programs are being implemented in all levels (elementary, secondly and high school) of public schools in Alaska, which is rare even in the United States, and he praised the achievements of unpaid internships made by 5 interns. In addition, Mr. Aniya answered a number of enthusiastic questions from the interns, and explained various experiences he encountered while working at diplomatic missions abroad, his motivation for becoming a diplomat and the importance of language learning. The online exchange opinions was carried out in a friendly and joyful atmosphere for about an hour.
The Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage wishes that the young interns will further be successful in the future.
