Meeting with the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources

On December 17, Head Consul Hamada met with Alaska Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Designee John Crowther at the State Office Building in Anchorage.
The meeting focused on Japan’s interest in Alaska’s energy, mining, and critical minerals sectors, including updates on Cook Inlet gas, North Slope activity, AKLNG, and emerging opportunities tied to critical minerals and mining development. Commissioner Designee Crowther shared DNR’s outlook on current projects, legislative considerations, and the importance of international collaboration, noting long-standing and future opportunities for Japanese engagement in Alaska’s resource development.
