Meeting with Director Randy Kee of Ted Stevens Center

On February 25th, 2026, Head Consul Hamada hosted a visit from Director Randy “Church” Kee, the Director of the Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies at the Consular Office in Anchorage.

Director Kee and Consul Hamada discussed the critical importance of Arctic security for international trade, cooperation, and global stability. The discussion highlighted the importance of many upcoming Arctic projects for this goal such as the upcoming port expansion in Nome, and how making sure these new shipping routes are safe and secure mutually benefits the U.S. and Japan.

The Consular Office of Japan looks forward to future cooperation with Director Kee.
