On August 8th, Head Consul Hamada paid a courtesy call to Unalaska Mayor Vincent Tutiakoff Sr.
Head Consul Hamada opened by thanking Mayor Tutiakoff Sr. for his extensive contribution in assisting and coordinating efforts with regards to Japan’s Maritime Self Defense Force Training Squadron visiting Dutch Harbor, Unalaska last year. Discussion was centered on the dynamics and economic development of the local seafood industry, as well as future energy projects.
Head Consul Hamada also visited Japanese representatives from Westward Seafoods Inc., Alyeska Seafoods Inc., and UniSea Inc. He was given a tour of the seafood processing plants and was deeply impressed by the high standard of operations.
The Consular Office of Japan looks forward to continued cooperation with Mayor Tutiakoff Sr. and the city of Unalaska.
