Online Arctic Symposium

On January 18 and 19, the Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage held the Online Arctic Symposium. Topics presented on day one featured dinosaur research activities, and research and development activities in environmental and fishery science, and topics on the day two were eco-friendly and prudent economic development activities, and vital local community activities.  The Chitose Ainu Association provided a pre-recorded video which showed traditional Ainu cultural activities such as dancing and spearfishing. Mr. Aniya closed the event thanking the speakers and attendees for their lively discussions, as well as their work in furthering future positive relations between Japan and the U.S. in the Arctic. A total of 79 people (43 on the first day, 36 on the second day) attended the Symposium.
