Courtesy Call to AFN President Ben Mallott

On February 24, 2025, Head Consul Kiyohiko Hamada paid a courtesy call to Alaska Federation of Natives President Ben Mallott.
Head Consul Hamada opened by congratulating President Mallott on being selected to lead the Alaska Federation of Natives. Head Consul Hamada attended last year’s AFN Convention and deeply appreciated learning more about the rich and diverse traditions and art forms of Alaska Native cultures. President Mallott spoke more on his visit to Japan last year where he cherished meeting with leaders from the Indigenous Ainu people. Discussion was also centered on the work of Alaska Native Regional Corporations and Alaska LNG.
The Consular Office of Japan looks forward to future cooperation with President Mallott and the Alaska Federation of Natives.
