On March 21, 2024, Mr. Kiyohiko Hamada, Head of the Consular Office of Japan, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Duane Mendenhall, Director of the Fort Richardson and Sitka National Cemeteries.
After brief introductions were made, Mr. Hamada thanked Mr. Mendenhall for his kind effort in caring for and maintaining the Battle of Attu Japanese Memorial Cenotaph at the Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
