On April 6, five interns (Ms. Akari KAWAMURA, Ms. Shiori SUZUKI, Ms. Yoshino MINAKAWA, Ms. Rina SOMA, Ms. Mio KUSHIBIKI), who have been training in classes conducting the Japanese Language Immersion Program for about a year at Dimond High School, Mears Middle High School, and Sand Lake Elementary School in Anchorage, visited the Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage.

At the beginning, Mr. Aniya exchanged opinions with the five interns. Mr. Aniya explained the duties and activities of the overseas diplomatic missions, including the Consular Office in Anchorage, and explained various events that the Consular Office has implemented over the past several years to promote friendship between Japan and Alaska. In addition, he answered many questions from the interns and explained his experiences, such as his motivation for becoming a diplomat, his previous work experience, and the importance of language acquisition.

Afterwards, the interns were briefed on their duties etc. by Consul Nishizawa, Consul Komatsu, and other staff members.

The Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage hopes that the young interns will continue to play an active role in the future.
