Ceremony commemorating the 15th anniversary of the construction of the Jujiro Wada Memorial Monumen

Jujiro Wada made great achievements in the development of Alaska, and can be called the founder of friendship between Japan and Alaska. A bronze statue of Jujiro with the inscription "Iditarod Trail Pioneer" has been erected in Seward.
An event was held on May 3, 2023 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the monument being erected in Hinode-cho, Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture, where Jujiro Wada spent his childhood. Mr. Aniya participated in the ceremony via video message.
The Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage supports the activities of the "Jujiro Wada Memorial Association" which promotes friendly relations between Japan and Alaska.
