Strengthening Japan-Alaska Connections: A Meeting at Anchorage Airport

On February 3, 2025, Head Consul Kiyohiko Hamada of the Consular Office of Japan and his staff recently met with Alaska International Airport System Director Angie Spear, ANC Airport Manager Dave Bronson, Deputy Director of FAI Aaron Danielson, and Passenger Air Development Manager of ANC Erik Peterson to explore opportunities for boosting air travel and tourism between Alaska and Japan.
The meeting highlighted Alaska's appeal as a destination for Japanese tourists, and the interest Alaskans have in traveling to Japan. Additionally, the group discussed the history of routes between Alaska and Asia highlighting the challenges of the past and opportunities of the future.
The meeting closed discussing collaboration to further improve the enduring relationship between Japan and Alaska in hopes of enhancing our cultural and economic ties.
