On May 12, 2025, Head Consul Kiyohiko Hamada paid a courtesy call to Denali Commission Federal Co-Chair Julie Kitka.

The Denali Commission is an independent federal agency that invests in core areas centered on energy, transportation, and critical infrastructure in Alaska. Julie Kitka was kind enough to talk about the role Alaska will play in dual-use infrastructure and technology with the hopes of securing US Arctic strategic and economic interest. Further discussion highlighted Japan’s key areas of interest in Alaska and how the Denali Commission’s work can support an environment that is attractive to unleashing Alaska’s natural resources and support investment opportunities.

The Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage looks forward to continued cooperation with Julie Kitka and the Denali Commission.
