Meeting with Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance

On June 24, 2025, Makoto Iyori, Consul General of Japan in Seattle, together with Head Consul Hamada, met with Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance.
Mayor LaFrance welcomed Consul General Iyori to Anchorage and spoke more about her priorities for Anchorage including the sister city relationship with Chitose City of Japan. Consul General Iyori was pleased to learn more about Mayor’ LaFrance’s efforts to tackle various issues in the city, by working with partners to house people and her work in developing comprehensive strategies for hazard mitigation.
The Consular Office of Japan thanks Mayor LaFrance for meeting with Consul General Iyori and will continue to strengthen ties with her and the Municipality of Anchorage.
