Meeting with Japanese American Citizens League Alaska Chapter President Dennis Arashiro and Former Vice President Marie Matsuno Nash
2024/6/19

On June 18, 2024, Head Consul Hamada met with President of the Alaska Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League Dennis Arashiro and former Vice President Marie Matsuno Nash.
The JACL was founded in 1929, making it the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States. The JACL responds to issues that threaten the rights and civil liberties of all Americans, while implementing strategies that create positive social change within the Asian Pacific American community.
Mr. Arashiro and Ms. Nash were kind enough to share the history of their families and how they became involved with the JACL. The agenda for the upcoming JACL National Convention was discussed in detail, as well as planned events hosted by the Alaska Chapter. Head Consul Hamada commended both for their achievements in human rights advocacy.
The Consular Office of Japan looks forward to continued cooperation with the Japanese American Citizens League.
