On March 31st, the 15th Annual Alaska Nihongo Contest was held at the Fine Arts Building, University of Alaska Anchorage. The event was organized by the Alaska Association of Teachers of Japanese in collaboration with the Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage, among others. Mr. Masatoshi Sato, Head of the Consular Office, gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. The Consular Office hosted a table with information on Japanese culture and tourism.
Japanese language students competed in many different categories, including short skits, poems, songs and speeches. The Consular Office will continue to support this important opportunity for Japanese language students.
