Tour of Proposed AKLNG Site in Nikiski with AGDC
2025/5/22

On May 20th, 2025, Head Consul Kiyohiko Hamada toured the proposed site of Alaska LNG’s export terminal, gas liquification plant, and Nutrien’s Kenai Nitrogen Operations Facility in Nikiski, hosted by Jordan Engel of the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC).
The visit offered valuable insight into the scale, strategy, and long-term vision for the project, in advance of the Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference to be held in June 2025. The nearby Nutrien plant aims to produce ammonia and urea fertilizer and could benefit from the success of the Alaska LNG project and an in-state gasline from Prudhoe Bay to Southcentral Alaska. The tours of the various facilities provided insight into the scale and complexity of the operations present in Nikiski's industrial sector that will support AKLNG's construction and operation.
The Consular Office of Japan in Alaska looks forward to continued engagement with AGDC.
