Japan-Alaska Friendship Video Campaign judging committee was held
2021/3/31
The Japan-Alaska Friendship Video Campaign judging committee was held on March 23 (March 24 Japan time). Judges attended the meeting from the Alaskan cities of Sitka, Ketchikan, and Fairbanks, and the Japanese cities of Chitose, Gero/Kanayama, and Obihiro.
Precautions were taken so that the evaluation could be conducted in a fair manner. For example, judges refrained from evaluating works that related to their own municipality or sister city.
All of the 11 works were excellent, with lots of engaging content. The judging process went smoothly, and the results are as follows:
• First place is "Moving With Seward Towards a Bright Future" by Obihiro City Hall,
• Second place is "Sisters and Sea Messages" by Stevie Drescher and Matt Steffy, and
• Third place is "Lasting Friendship Between Alaska and Japan Through Sister City Relationships" by Hiroko Harada.
In addition, runner-up prizes for excellent works went to:
"Over 30 Years of Friendship-Ketchikan Gero Kanayama" by Archie Inoncillo,
"Japan and Alaska-A Friendship Made to Last" by Jacob Lee Roberts and Robert McGinnis, and
"Yukigassen, Seward Alaska" by Parks and Recreation for the City of Seward
In addition, the Consular Office Award will be presented to "Natsukashi (Nostalgia)" by Explore Fairbanks.
A list of all entries and their links will be posted shortly.
