Exchange of views with Acting Mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson
On June 11, Mr. Aniya and Mr. Weinert had a meeting with Ms. Austin Quinn-Davidson, Acting Mayor of Anchorage, and Ms. Camilla Hussein-Scott, Special Assistant to the Mayor.
Mr. Aniya congratulated Ms. Quinn-Davidson on her achievements during the past eight months as Anchorage’s Acting Mayor, and thanked the Acting Mayor for attending the event "Monty's Bridge to Tomorrow: 10th Year Commemoration of the 2011 Tsunami" organized by Montgomery Dickson Center for Japanese Language & Culture in March.
Acting Mayor Quinn-Davidson mentioned that from 2003 to 2004 she taught English to students at five junior high schools in Kyoto with the JET Program. While in Japan, she visited Nagano, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Tokyo. In addition, Acting Mayor Quinn-Davidson and Ms. Hussein-Scott, Special Assistant, said that it is very important for young students to be interested in international affairs, to have experience of interacting with foreigners, and stated that they were interested in sister city relationships between Japan and Alaska and JETAA (JET Alumni Association) activities.
