Japan Alaska Association hosts Rice Pounding Celebration & General Members Meeting

On January 15, the Japan Alaska Association hosted a Rice Pounding Celebration and General Members Meeting on Zoom for Japan Alaska Association Members. Attendees saw a performance by Tomodachi Daiko, a popular local taiko drumming group. Attendees also watched a video of former Japan Alaska Association President, Ms. Makiko Boyd, making New Year’s soup, ozoni, and saw a live mochi pounding demonstration lead by JAA Vice President Mr. Masa Ando, and JAA board advisor, Mr. Shin Suzuki.
During the General Members Meeting, the Head of the Consular Office of Japan in Anchorage, Mr. Masaru Aniya, gave his New Year’s remarks, and expressed his hope that everyone will have a great New Year. The event concluded with an update on the status of the Japan Alaska Association, and some anticipated events in 2022.
