On September 9, Head Consul Hamada visited Homer and paid a courtesy call to US Fish & Wildlife officials, Steve Delehanty, Refuge Manager of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, and Jeff Williams, Deputy Refuge Manager of the Alaska Maritime National Refuge, to express his sincere gratitude to them for their tremendous work in helping a Japanese delegation successfully survey Attu Island in August 2024.

Mr. Delehanty and Mr. Williams were kind enough to talk about the journey and how much it meant to them too. Discussion was also centered on the possibility of future expeditions.

After the meeting, a tour was given of the Alaska Maritime Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center.

The Consular Office of Japan looks forward to continued cooperation with the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
